Mindfulness with Sherry for World Mental Health Month on Zoom

We are hosting a Mindfulness Meditation to help reduce stress and anxiety which will be conducted by a mindfulness instructor, Sherry Yasay. Sherry is a licensed Mindfulness Facilitator and the founder of “The Mindfulness Community”, a platform promoting mindfulness practices.

Mindfulness is the state of being present and fully engaged with what you are doing at the moment — free from distraction and aware of our thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them. This awareness can be cultivated through various techniques such as meditation or yoga although mindfulness is innate. In teaching the mind to be present, we are teaching ourselves to live more mindfully — in the present instead of having other thoughts or feelings, and this is particularly helpful when faced with challenging circumstances or difficult situations. Research has also shown that mindfulness comes with various benefits, such as alleviating stress by improving emotion regulation, reduced anxiety and rumination, enhanced focus and productivity and more.
