13.9% of HK’s population suffer from mental illness with anxiety disorders and depression being the most common. Unfortunately, it takes anywhere from 12-24 months to get an appointment to see a therapist in a public hospital and each session lasts 5-7 minutes on average which means the main form of treatment is medication, not therapy. Private counselling sessions are available in HK at a high fee of $1500-$3000HKD per hour.
